So much of Vienna has been a surprise. Beauty, history, nature, the crossroads of Europe and a houseful of guests. I guess we sort of expected those parts, and it’s been as wonderful as we expected.
The part I didn’t expect was how perfect it would be for children, or that my husband would find a job he loves. I didn’t know our family would grow by the addition of an adopted Romanian cat. I didn’t know how much I missed the rhythm of a normal life, where there are seasons and lettuce, and outdoor music festivals where they really do sell schnitzel with noodles.
I didn’t know when we landed a year ago that I could fall in love with something so fast.
We’ve been here a year and I’m still trying to figure out how this wonderful thing happened.
