Andorra and Barcelona

Barcelona is famous for a reason…. the home of Picassso, La Sagrada Familia, flamenco, sangria, FC Football, Gaudi, vermouth, and the best tapas in the world! We went on a Gothic walking tour, tasted chocolate with potato chips, gaped at a Taco Bell (?), bought empanadas, and had lunch next to an outdoor market overflowing with tables of ham, cheese, and wine. I think there can be nothing better than a warm spring day, a pair of comfortable shoes, a few bowls of crispy, fried calamari, and a table under the trees surrounded by all of this. We only had one day in Barcelona so there were many Dali-Gaudi-Picasso stones left unturned, but that’s okay… for next time.

ANDORRA

We weren’t quite sure what to expect with Andorra La Vella, but as one of Europe’s micro-countries, we couldn’t be this close and not check it out. High in the mountains, it is a place for hiking, biking, and skiing, and would probably be lots of fun if we had that kind of energy. But we had a spa reservation to make! Thermal Spas, for whatever reason, are our family’s happy place, so Mike booked us an afternoon at Caldea Spa. There were brilliant pools of warm water, a turkish hamam, fuzzy bathrobes, and the best people-watching ever. Lunch was not quite so fancy because we ran out of time, but how many people can say they ate at McDonald’s in Andorra? #bestandorradayever
