Lake Chelan 2020
Even COVID couldn’t keep us away from Lake Chelan!
Lake Chelan is a local vacation spot mixing city-dwellers from Seattle looking for sunshine, and residents who drive pick-ups with American flags on the mudflaps. Driving through town we saw groups with masks and group without, but we felt pretty safe staying close to our condo. COVID meant we couldn’t all swim in the pool at the same time and that most of our usual haunts were closed, but with a kitchen full of homemade pizza and tacos, it didn’t really matter. We rolled around on the lawn in the open air after dinner keeping social distant from our friends, and actually thought it was fun to hunt through the complex for an empty pool.
We had wine tastings and berry cobbler and rode the electric skateboard, and ate piles of bacon with our Cheetos. Now that is a vacation.
We were lucky one night to see millions of stars and other bright things moving across the sky. Brint and Phyllis told us to watch for the roving space station, and we’re still not sure if we found it, but ended up having a nice moonlight swim all to ourselves.
Fortunately, Social Distancing is deemed socially acceptable on a jet ski. Paul, remember that weird time you went jet skiing, and some guy was freaking out because he flipped over, and you helped him because you thought either he or the jet ski might sink? That happened on this trip.
This is also the trip where Jake and Eli officially run faster than me. Not as fast as Uncle Paul though!
One day we rented a kayak and a paddle board and rowed out across the wakes of the speedboats. It was a little hard to stay upright with the rough water, at least that’s what we’re blaming it on…
Someone else was busy working on their rock collection.
As always, the days slipped by too fast. We knew by our dwindling supplies of fudge and corn dogs that it was almost time to go. Fortunately we aren’t going far, just back to Woodinville for two more weeks of Dairy Queen, rockets, stories, margaritas, hamburger taste tests, camping in the backyard, lemonade, and summer fun with our cousins! ♥ ♥ ♥
