Cousins
There is something nice about being loved by a cousin.
When no matter what you’re doing, it’s fun, like a backyard full of bubbles.
Or riding bikes in the neighborhood,
Or stuffing yourself into a Can Jam. Literally Jamming the Can.
Being a cousin means you have instant friends that you don’t have to explain your parents to.
It is being snuggled and loved, sometimes even a little too much, but then maybe there is no such thing as that.
Just like there is no such thing as too many doughnuts or too much ice cream,
or too many strawberries and blueberries on your cupcake.
If we didn’t have cousins, how would we know about Baby Shark?
How would we know that riding huge roller coasters is FUN, and that maybe we aren’t afraid of heights or going fast after all?
Whether we’re in a stage of learning or teaching, or sometimes both at the same time, the best mentors are the ones who love you and will never let go.
Because no matter how big and wide the world feels sometimes, with family, we are never in it alone.
And there will always be someone to play cards, go mini-golfing, and blow bubbles with. And you will never be too old or too young to belong.
