Uttendorf
Out in the Alps near Kitzbuhel lies some of the most beautiful land on earth. That is our guest house, snuggled up there on the hillside in the snow.
We came for Jake’s and Eli’s birthday weekend. More sledding at Wildkogelbahn!
And more schnitzel and kasespaetzle.
Everyone in this town seems to be quite proud of their chickens!
Eli and Jake liked petting the ponies.
After a colder than expected afternoon of sledding (the kids forgot their snow boots), we spent a cozy evening at Teglbauer and were treated the next morning to traditional Austrian Fruhstuck, of freshly baked bread and homemade honey, and soft-boiled eggs straight from the chickens.
With snow like this, the whole world feels quiet.
Footsteps grow louder and the air stops, almost like the earth has stopped turning. The sound doesn’t go anywhere but just stays, still, in the place where it falls the first time.
The way I hope my memories fall, still, in my heart, to stay forever.
Ashley, everywhere in the Alps is so pretty, and so kid-friendly! I hope you have fun!!
You have now convinced me to take a family vacation to the Alps. Thanks for the inspiration!
