What a great way to continue the birthday month!
When Mimi and Dede arrive they bring the magic the way only grandparents can. Jake and Eli were literally over the moon, staying up late to watch a lunar eclipse right after they arrived, then walking with them down the Strudelhof steps to the bus stop every morning, having a cheering section at swim practice, and getting bedtime stories every single night. They were excited to show Mimi and Dede how to ride the tram!
Also excited for a little bit of Americana…
and the opportunity to play bartender again.
Jake is a pretty good bartender. This is what he brought Mimi when she ordered a shot of Maker’s Mark. Enjoy those three sheets to the wind, Mimi!
The memories are almost too many to count. We had game nights,
Explored famous sights,
Took Aunt Liz to dinner in Grinzing,
And made chocolate chip cookies and apple pie. Birthday Pie! With cookie dough ice cream!
We fit in as many coffee houses and cafes as possible. Cafe Central, Cafe Demel, Cafe Landtmann, Julius Meinl, and the Anker bakery just down the street for our weekend krapfen and croissants.
Fortunately we hardly made a dent in the possibilities, so I guess they’ll just have to come back!
There are still more streets to explore, more trains to ride, more chocolates to eat, and more walks to take.
Potzleinsdorf Park, Secret Life of Pets, Big Macs, War, School Valentines, Dede Cookies, Monopoly, Budapest with the piano and the surly waiter, Paddington Bear, and by the way my puzzle is not yet completed…
A wonderful visit, and we hope only the first chapter of many more stories to come.
