Welcome to Mauritius!
Even Jake and Eli got a welcome drink!
It was late when we finally arrived at the Cape Point Villas, but not so late that we couldn’t test out the shower. This place is nice!
There was even a real espresso maker in the kitchen. Heaven!
The place we rented was a lovely surprise, delivering all that the internet had promised. A three bedroom condo on the Northern tip of the island, with a pool and the Indian Ocean as our backyard. The next morning Jake and Eli wasted no time jumping in.
There were palm trees full of coconuts for shade,
And little fishing boats moored in the harbor.
In the morning the tide was out, so we could walk through the sand, hunt for starfish, and make sand castles in the black volcanic rocks.
We took out kayaks and went up the shoreline to tip of Cape Malheureux, so named for the centuries of ships wrecked in the shallow water. Mommy was careful not to let anyone get too close to the current! This sparked days of questions about currents, waves, tsunamis, and what happens to people who get caught in currents. By afternoon, my arms were very tired, thanks goodness the tide rolled back in.
Time to relax in those beautiful deck chairs with a little Happy Hour!
The ocean was like a field of glittery diamonds and the blue of the water unbelievably blue. I think the Indian Ocean is officially my favorite ocean. Especially with these guys in it.
Back at the pool, Eli started swimming laps and Daddy and Jake relaxed with their books.
Perfect First Day Of Vacation.
