Jake
After our first week in Zambia, I asked Jake what he liked about Africa.
“My school, bananas, the pool, our house. I like everything about the world.”
If you could design a little boy, he would probably come out something like Jake. Sturdy, athletic, strong, friendly, and cuddly enough that he still needs hugs and kisses every day.
He likes when we call him Worker Dog, which we do because he’s always busy. Unloading groceries, learning to swim, helping our gardener, and riding his bike like crazy. He’s always saying “Dad, watch!” “Mom, look how fast I can go!”
He is very good at drawing straight lines and geometric patterns, he can read simple words now (he practices every day), and he does everything the first time he’s asked. It’s actually a little weird. Mike says he would trust him to deposit money into our bank account. I would too!
He loves his cowboy boots (thanks Grandpa Bill!),
and he keeps us safe by carrying the security radio around the house:
Jake is pretty cute.
We are pretty lucky to have him around!!!
